Kinnect Featured in Casey Family Programs 2024 Signature Report
We are thrilled to announce that Kinnect has been highlighted in the prestigious Casey Family Programs 2024 Signature Report! This recognition underscores the impactful work our team is doing to redefine kinship and support children and families within the child welfare system.
The report highlights Kinnect’s core values of belonging, connection, bonds, identity, and love—principles that drive our mission to prevent children from entering the child welfare system and to minimize the time they spend in it if removed from their homes. Among the many services we provide are family search and engagement, kinship and adoption navigation, support for youth in or after foster care, and training to create an affirming culture for LGBTQ+ youth.
Our Kinnect to Family program has been especially transformative, assisting over 3,000 families with intensive family search and engagement services. On average, we help facilitate around 150 connections per child, proving that even when direct placement isn’t possible, extended family can offer invaluable support in many other ways.
As Shannon Deinhart, our Executive Director and Co-Founder, aptly puts it, “You can terminate parental rights, but you cannot terminate relationships.” Her journey from social worker to leading Kinnect embodies our dedication to finding and reconnecting youth with their birth families, ensuring they have that crucial sense of belonging and a supportive network.
We invite you to celebrate this achievement with us and continue supporting our mission.
